How Becoming a Brand Ambassador Helped Me Find Myself Again

A few years ago, I felt lost. I had always been outgoing as a teenager, full of life and energy. But somewhere along the way, adulthood, responsibilities and hard experiences dimmed that part of me. I knew I needed to do something to face the fear I had developed around socializing.
That’s when I saw a random a post looking for “outgoing people” for a FanDuel event (see the photo below). The role? Helping attendees have fun playing games like basketball and enjoying festival-style activities. I had zero experience but something inside me told me to apply. I did… and I got it.
That day changed everything for me.
I found myself surrounded by people laughing, playing games and celebrating life. I even met a few pro basketball players—one was a woman who absolutely dominated the court and kept scoring more than the guys! The energy was electric, and as a bonus, I got to stay for the concert afterward featuring Nelly (yes, that Nelly!). It felt surreal.
I couldn’t believe I could get paid just for being myself or at least the version of me I had been missing for so long.
After that event, I was hooked.
Since then, I’ve worked with major corporations and meaningful organizations from music festivals to community outreach events. I’ve made new friends, met people from around the world, receive free gear and swag which I often donate or give away to family/friends, and even had the unforgettable experience of meeting Snoop Dogg at one of his events. I've worked huge activations like the NFL Experience and represented brands making a real difference in fighting against racism and discrimination. Some people might think this kind of work is insignificant or not as “prestigious” as my previous career as a Tax Accountant but let me tell you something:
Brand Ambassadors play a powerful role!
We are the energy behind the experience. We help others let loose, have fun, and feel seen. We represent brands that are shaping culture and creating positive change. And most importantly — we do it by showing up as our full, authentic selves which allows others to do the same.
💡 Thinking About Becoming a Brand Ambassador?
If you're outgoing, love meeting new people, enjoy high-energy environments and want to try something new or just reconnect with the version of you that loves life becoming a Brand Ambassador could be a game-changer.
Yes, some events are long and you’ll be on your feet all day. But the joy, the connections, the opportunities are worth it.
You get to have fun, be yourself and get paid to be part of experiences that people will never forget. And for me, it’s not just a gig. It’s part of my healing. It brought me back to life.
So if you’ve been waiting for a sign, here it is.
